All in all, I am very happy about this blog project and I hope to eventually make another blog about a different topic. Overall, I talked about Athena and how she was born. I also talked about how she affected the world and people around her, (such as the giving of the olive tree to the Athenians). I wish that we had more time to talk but unfortunately i have to go but I will definitely see you soon!
Sacrifices, rituals and ceremonies were often strange and by our standards unpleasant to say the least. In terms of sacrifices, "In an oriental Greek city, Laodiceia, Syria, Athena is originally supposed to have received the sacrifice of one virgin each year, later one doe." Boys and girls who were followers of Athena had shaven heads as part of their initiation ritual. Source |
Athena was known to be a fierce warrior, bravely defending her city-state in war from any outside or enemy threats. She became Athens' patron goddess by winning a contest against her uncle, Poseidon. |
Athena is one of the most well-known Greek goddesses. She is known as a compassionate and benevolent goddess. She was strong, fair, merciful and independent. Athena was never married and had no children (Source). She was the goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts, and literature and crafts. (Source) She became the goddess of war because the community she live in was military based. At times, she fought alongside Greek heroes in war. She was also called ATHENE and ATHINA and one of the most interesting myths is about her birth. She had no living mother, and was born full-grown and armed with weapons, straight out of her father, Zeus' head!!! Some have written that Metis, Zeus' first wife, was pregnant with Athena when Zeus ate her and then eventually got a headache (maybe it was the first migraine in history !?!), and gave birth to Athena (Source) Click the links or watch the video to learn more. Hello, everyone, I would like to share an interesting topic (in my opinion) that has caught my attention. This topic is...Goddess ATHENA! Goddess Athena is the goddess of wisdom and she is also one of the more popular and well-known goddesses. I decided to choose this topic because I wanted to learn more about Greek gods and goddesses, especially Athena! I also picked this topic because I wanted you to pick up some knowledge too...we can be on this blog adventure together!!!
I am interested in how Athena affected the people in Ancient Greece and also, going with that, what kind of sacrifices did they make?
I want to know why, and how, was Athens dedicated to Athena?
Lastly, I wanted to know exactly who Athena was... I mean , I cannot write a blog on a topic that I haven't researched, can I?
Thanks for your time, see you later!
